about

This song, "The Slave of the Hourglass", is a song written for the wonderful short film "Le Temps d'un Sablier" by Belgian filmmaker, Michaël de Nijs. It features Augi Dethier playing on the drums and Simon Bèriaux singing some backing vocals.

lyrics

if we only had more time, the chances would come back around
moments pass but once
then they become mist or memories, residing in the mind
they'll dim you down or light you up

and when the last grain falls
and you still have breath
you'll stop from counting all the sand that falls away
and when your eyes fill up
if it's not with joy
close them tight and find a dream that fits you well

time can pick you up

the glass-blower stretches sand 'til time has dissappeared
late into the night
for fear his time may pass away
fill your days with fun and love and no time for regrets
where loss knocks you down
time can pick you up

and when the last grains fall
and you find you still have breath
you can flip the hourglass and keep on counting
or let time pick you up

time can pick you up
